Alton Towers

We decided to visit Alton Towers on a Monday. The forecast was for rain, but we went anyway. Turns out it didn't rain and the weather was great. Alton Towers has a giant castle in the middle of it.
A couple shots of Rob and Ashley as we made our way back to Nemesis. The scary looking dude makes noises and the fog is all around.
Nemesis is a B&M inverted coaster that runs thru a ravine in the mountain. The story is that the monster is bleeding, so the water under the ride is colored red for effect. Due to height limitations, the rides at Alton Towers can't go above the tree line. So Nemesis was built into the ground. The coaster builds up speed as it drops into the ravine and it's a great ride.
The next attraction was Air, a B&M flying coaster. Riders lay on their stomach and fly thru the air. After the lift hill, there is a gradual drop as the coaster picks up speed. From there the train dives towards the ground and goes thru many turns. It's as close to flying as one can get.
The next coaster was Rita Queen of Speed. This is an Intamin launched coaster that flies from the start like a dragster, then goes thru a bunch of turns.
Next up was a family ride called Charlie and the Chocolate factory. On this one riders board a boat which takes people thru a chocolate river. The ride ends with people standing in a glass elevator and traveling thru the castle before blasting out.

The next ride was Oblivian, a B&M dive coaster. This one stops at the top of the lift for a few seconds to build up the tension. Then it drops into the ground. Look at the 3rd picture, that's all of us in the front row.
Oliver and Joe were crazy enough to take a ride on Ripsaw. This ride soaks everyone with water jets that shoot up from the ground. Now completely soaked, they went on the log flume twice to end the day.
