MF Test Seat Guide

Can You Fit?

05/28/04

Robert "NoGodForMe" Viands traveled up to Cedar Point to ride Millennium Force.   Did he fit in the seat?   Did one month of laying off the sauce, working out, and running 1.5 miles on a track pay off?

Of coarse.

Robert's dimensions are

5'10", 205 lbs, 36" waist, wears 36" Levis or Dockers, Stocky build, runs, and lifts weights at the gym.

Dave Althoff, Jr. came up with a method to measure yourself at home.  Below is my computer room chair with the tape measure going across it.  Mark off two points 19 inches apart.    Sit in the chair, take the tape measure, and go across your lap where you see it in the picture.   If you can pull the tape tight, go from one point to the other, and have 28 inches or less, you will probably fit in the MF seat.  For me, it was 26 inches pulled tight, and I had 2 inches to spare on the ride.

Me sitting in the test seat.    There you can see the belt going across my lap.   I'm wearing two t-shirts, and the long sleeve shirt over my 36" jeans.

A close up of the belt.  Notice how the clip is in the middle of the leg and the belt goes slightly to the back.   This makes it hard to duplicate the test seat at home.     That's why we use Dave's method to measure.

Here I've got 3 and 1/4th inches of slack with the belt pulled tight.  The ride ops use their thumb to check this, measuring from the tip to the first knuckle.

Another picture of me sitting with the lap bar pulled down.   Make sure you push things all the way into the bottom of your pockets, or the lap bar will press on them.  The ride ops push down hard on the lap bar.

This picture is a little out of focus, but you can see where the long part of the belt connects, what the side of the seat looks like, and how the belt goes thru the handle.

A better picture of the belt going thru the handle around my lap.   In this picture, I have the belt set at 1 inch of slack, and I can pull up on it a couple inches.  I'm worthy, I'm worthy.

A celebration drink in the Breakers Express hotel room looking over the water of the Radisson.  I enjoyed two rides on MF and two rides on TTD, one of them in the front seat.

A quick review of Robert's workout program.   Visit the gym every other day, lifting weights and doing stomach crunches.   After each work out, go for a jog, the grass infield of a track is a good idea.

End of trip report.  Thanks for reading.  Good Luck with your workouts.
